Sandhills Agriculture News : Blackberries
Posted by Gene Mercer on 2007/7/5 21:20:00 (1561 reads)

blackberryDid you know that blackberries are a good, low fat source of vitamin E? They also contain salicylate, which some research suggests lowers the risk of heart attack, vitamin C, and folate, an important B vitamin for cell growth and replication, and which is important for a healthy immune system.

At the Smith Berry Farm, the blackberries are big, ripe and ready to eat! Located outside Rockingham on Terry Bridge Road, the Smith Berry Farm is in its fifth year growing strawberries, blackberries, and greenhouse tomatoes. Brand new at the Farm this summer is homemade ice-cream, made with fresh peaches, blackberries, and strawberries, to name just a few of the flavors available. At the Smith Berry Farm, you can pick your own, or purchase berries already picked in pint, quart, or gallon sizes. Hours are 9-6, Monday through Saturday. Stop by today and pick up some luscious blackberries for cobbler, jam, or just eating all by themselves, and enjoy a healthy, and delicious, treat!

flowersSpring Flowers!

Bountiful Gardens

134 Thompson Road

Rockingham

Bountiful Gardens was established in 1981 by Wayne and Hiawatha Thompson. Starting with an initial four greenhouses, the Thompsons began growing greenhouse tomatoes and seedless cucumbers for wholesale and retail sale. They grew some flowers initially, but as time went on, their focus shifted from tomatoes and cucumbers to growing a more diverse selection of flowers and ornamental plants. Today, with 12 greenhouses, and with the addition of their son Patrick Frye to the business, the Thompson's are growing a huge variety of plants ranging from poinsettias, garden mums, bedding plants for spring, summer, and fall, as well as hanging baskets, mixed containers, and perennials. They have a retail business at the greenhouses and deliver orders to customers in Myrtle Beach, Pinehurst, and throughout North and South Carolina. Stop by and see the explosion of color in their greenhouses, and take home some of nature's most beautiful summer offerings today.

Sandhills Agriculture News : Member Directory Update
Posted by Gene Mercer on 2007/5/5 13:30:00 (1705 reads)

As promised, I have totally went through the Members Directory and hopefully have everyone corrected and back as it was supposed to be. Again, I apoligize for the mixup. While I was at it I also corrected two broken links and deleted an old one.

I'm still trying to get google to index the site (I've been working on that since Feburary) and having no luck. The site is listed in the other 4-5 major search sites and we've been receiving visitors from them quite often.

Also, I found the Sandhills Theater Ad on the CD Taylor gave me. It didn't have an extension so at first I wasn't sure what it was.. I figured it out though and here it is. If you want to send it to your friends the URL is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFSnoAeWW4Y

Thanks

Gene
